Being Scene at the Gladstone Hotel, Sep-Oct 2015
It was so cool to be part of the juried art show “Being Scene” put on by Workman Arts at the trendy Gladstone Hotel. My piece titled “Hebrews 12:1″ came from my travels to Joshua Tree National Park in California. The image came back to me a few times when we were updating our portfolio at work and also as temporary art work in my bedroom. The image gave me a very calming and relaxing feeling when I looked at it. Around the same time I was going through some difficulties and found comfort in a verse from the book of Hebrews that says “let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” I realized that the two went together very well and when I saw the open call from Workman Arts I decided there was nothing to lose and submit my piece. Being part of a respected Art Show was a great confidence boost for me as I have been working professionally as a photographer for the past five years but have not had much recognition as an Artist. It was super cool to have the exhibit take place during Nuit Blanche which always brings in a big crowd. I love the idea of having a small show with my work, maybe in a coffee shop or restaurant, so this has helped me realize that goal could be attainable in the near future. Thank you Workman Arts!
